Downsizing

I have come to the conclusion that I am a packrat and must start clearing away stuff I have collected over the last 30 some odd years.  I have already started going through my model boat magazines, cutting out articles I want and throwing away the rest. I have to start thinking if I will do the same with my wargaming magazines; although I have decided to leave my Practical Wargamer magazines intact.

I also have decided to get rid of most of my plastic toy soldiers, along with many of my toy soldier molds. I haven't quite decided how to go about disposing of them. I would like to find people who would put them to good use; preferably for postage only.  Right now I'm concentrating on getting rid of books and magazines that I haven't looked at for many years.
Some of the molds I want to go through.

Just some of the plastics that I am going to get rid of.

    1. Stuart, Since getting my collection of PW, it has always been the magazine I use to compare other magazines. I still haven't quite figured out the secret of PW! You did create an excellent magazine.

  2. Best wishes for your downsizing. Cutting up the model mags worked for me apart from the precious PW ones. I know how you feel about trying to make sure it goes to the right home and someone who will use and appreciate it. Have you thought about selling your spares on EBay? Mark, Man of TIN

  3. I started with magazines that are newer to cut up. I do have a rather large collect of Model Boats magazines from the 60's and 70's that I'm not sure I can bring myself to cut up. Also, I do have the early Wargames Illustrated and Miniature Wargames that right now I feel the same about.
As for selling them on Ebay, several years ago I did sell off several lots of toy soldiers. I found the money I made was hardly worth the effort. Perhaps I will get a couple of small boxes of plastics together and try again; although I have given and traded several lots of toy soldiers to people that were looking for something particular that I happened to have. By the way, I do know you use plastics in your gaming. If you are looking for something in particular, perhaps I have them.

  4. I have every copy of Military Modelling from 1971 until they lost the plot in the mid '90s, all original Battlegames and most Battles.. I just can't lose them... I did flog all my WI and MW however

  5. I also have quite a few of Battle and Battle for Wargamers. Those are another magazine I have to decide wither to keep intact or cut the articles out. As most of the magazines from the 70's fit on one shelf, I will probably keep keep them intact.

  6. I can sympathize. I've had to offload a lot over the last 5 years and there are more that should go. Ebay has been hit and miss but never really about profit or even recouping costs but the funds have helped and some good homes found. Easier oddly in larger lots than small ones.

I dn;t need ore molds...but.... I see some of the red Miniature Molds molds....you don't happen to have any of their Coldstream Guards molds that you are looking to rehome? or the ACW Parrot rifle? Don't really need them and I keep stopping myself from buying more 54mm molds but.....

  7. I actually got most, if not all of the Coldstream Guards molds. I haven't made up my mind on the, as those were molds I had wanted for awhile. However, with my 40mm Figures I might part with them. If I do I will let you know.
